Black History Month is a momentous occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Black people to British society. Throughout October, there are numerous events happening across the Square Mile, spanning the arts, business, literature, history and so much more. At the City of London Corporation, we hope you are able to attend some of these activities, along with your friends and colleagues.

Organised by Global Tech Advocates - Black Women in Tech, the Festival is dedicated to supporting, connecting and celebrating Black women professionals and entrepreneurs in tech and beyond.

Black Introvert Week UK | Live panel event
Teachers currently receive no official guidance or training on how to get the best out of introvert pupils. We want to change this.

PERFORMANCE: Sancho&Me - For One Night Only with Paterson Joseph
Charles Ignatius Sancho was born on a slave ship on the Atlantic Ocean in 1729, yet he became a writer, composer, shopkeeper and respected ‘man of letters’ in 18th century London.

This Black History Month, Black Lives Natter is hosting a free one day community event at Theatre Deli in London on the 21st October. This event celebrates History, Community, Education, Business, Wellbeing, Culture and the Arts in a day-long event.

Broadworks is a New Cultural Hub in the City of London, brought to you by Hive Curates. For Black History month we are thrilled to invite you to join us for a night of celebration, resilience and community empowerment. We have a special takeover of our terrace area featuring a showreel of films celebrating stories from the Afro-diaspora, boyhood exploration, communities and activism. Join us as we explore the beauty in our everyday contexts.
TALK: Black Solicitors Network - Saluting our Sisters
The Black Solicitors Network is delighted to invite you to celebrate Black History Month.
The theme this year is “Saluting our Sisters” and we will be exploring sisterhood, what it means and how we can salute and support sisters both as fellow sisters and as allies. We will be hearing from a panel of distinguished female speakers; Juliet Alexander, Shaniah Bart, Kathy Bowman and Margaret Obi moderated by Sally Penni MBE.

This programme looks at how Haiti has been depicted across cinema from playing key roles in artist cinema of Maya Deren, demanding radical political change to exploring colonial legacies through indigenous Vodou culture. It covers some 70 years of material from the 1930s travelogues of Rudy Burckhard to award winning contemporary Haitian filmmakers Miryam Charles, Esery Mondesir and Gessica Généus.
