Social Mobility in the City is for anyone who wants to be part of actively driving social mobility across the Square Mile.

It is part of a wider family of 13 City Belonging Networks which aims to:

Create and promote opportunities for the community to meet one another through events and activities.
Support the City of London Corporation and other City institutions to be the best possible ally.
Promote engagement from members of this community in the civic and cultural life of the Square Mile.

Advancing Socio-Economic Diversity in Financial Services

We were pleased to be partnering with Accenture and Progress Together to present the findings of a ground-breaking research project, and to mark the launch of the newest City Belonging Network, Social Mobility in the City.

This research initiative explores how artificial intelligence can create transformational opportunities to advance socio-economic diversity within the sector, with tangible actions that leaders can implement in their organisation.

The event featured a keynote speech from the Lord Mayor, and a panel of senior industry leaders facilitated by the Times editor Andy Silvester.

Social Mobility Starts With All Of Us

Professionals from across the Square Mile came together at Eversheds Sutherland for Social Mobility Starts With All of Us – an interactive afternoon focused on turning conversations about social mobility into meaningful action.

Following a welcome from Claire Carroll, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, attendees took part in the Invisible Advantage activity led by Social Mobility in the City Steering Group members Nina Slingsby (OAHA) and Jen Peters (Alpha Bank), before hearing practical insights from a panel chaired by Cyrus Suntook (Accenture) featuring Tim Macavoy (Radius), Lili Jones (Fidelity International), Simon Reichwald (Connectr) and Sophie Hulm (Progress Together). Together, the discussions explored how organisations can create more equitable pathways into and through the workplace.

The event concluded with audience questions and networking, giving attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas and build new connections across sectors. A huge thank you to Eversheds Sutherland for generously hosting the event, and to our speakers and everyone who joined us. By bringing together organisations committed to advancing social mobility, we continue to build momentum towards a more inclusive and opportunity-rich Square Mile.
