WALK: Culture Mile BID - Black History Walk

The Culture Mile BID has commissioned renowned expert Tony Warner to curate and deliver a walking tour uncovering the fascinating stories of Black Londoners in this unique area of the Square Mile. On this interactive and engaging tour in the quiet side streets of the City we will uncover:

• Black British revolutionaries of the 19th century

• The real Black Panthers of the 20th Century

• Council houses to penthouses

• Windrush World War Two heroes

• US vs UK Civil Rights

• Money, Mali and Mozambique

• Museums in London and Black representation

• African emperors and Caribbean resistance

Tony Warner is the founder of Black History Walks a group which has been running walks, talks and films on the African/Caribbean history in London for the last 16 years. He is the author of Black History Walks volume 1, the first guidebook on the Black history in London’s streets. The book can be purchased online from Jacaranda Books or Amazon. Tony is co author of the Pearson History GCSE exam textbook which is part-based on his Notting Hill walk. He is also chair of the African Odysseys programme which has been showcasing diaspora films for the last 16 years at the British Film Institute Southbank.
