Parents and Carers Network Launch

We were delighted to launch the City Belonging Project's Parents and Carers Network, hosted by Aviva, bringing together employers and professionals from across the Square Mile to connect, share experiences and explore how organisations can better support employees with caring responsibilities. The evening featured a panel discussion exploring how organisations can move from policy to practice in supporting parents and carers. Expertly moderated by Juliet Andrew-Orji from Carers UK, the conversation highlighted the role of leadership, workplace culture, mentoring and practical workplace policies in helping parents and carers thrive. The discussion covered:

  • How visible role modelling from leaders helps shape workplace culture

  • The impact of mentoring and sponsorship on career progression

  • What effective policies, including flexible working and carers' leave, look like in practice

  • How organisations can bridge the gap between policy and lived experience

The evening featured a fantastic panel of speakers, including:

  • Abi Caldwell - Bank of England

  • Craig Fazzini-Jones - Aviva

  • Claire-Louise Fish - Deutsche Bank

We were also pleased to hear contributions from:

  • Rachel Blake MP - Member of Parliament for Cities of London and Westminster

  • Stuart McKellar - Aviva

  • Martin O'Malley - Aviva

  • Mark Gettleson - City of London Corporation

Following the discussion, attendees enjoyed networking and refreshments, providing an opportunity to build new connections, exchange insights and become part of a growing community committed to belonging in the City. As part of Carers Week, the launch marked an important step in building more carer-friendly workplaces across the Square Mile.
