Black in the Square Mile exists to make the City of London's commitment to inclusion real – opening doors for those who should be here, and removing the barriers for those who already are. It is part of wider family of City Belonging Networks.
We work across four interconnected pillars. Together they form a complete approach from creating the evidence base to building community, sharing knowledge, and advocating for systemic change
Systemic Impact and Accountability
We work with the City of London Corporation to build the data foundation, track outcomes year on year, and hold ourselves and our partners to account through an annual impact report.Community and Connection
We create the spaces where Black professionals across the Square Mile can meet, build relationships and feel part of something larger than their individual firm or network.Knowledge Sharing and Cross-Sector Learning
We break down silos by creating spaces where Black professionals, ERG leads, DE&I practitioners and senior sponsors can share what is working, what is not, and what they wish they had known sooner.Visibility, Advocacy and Economic Power
We make Black talent visible year-round not just in October. We provide public leadership on racial equity when it matters, respond to moments when DE&I comes under pressure, and use the City of London's platform to amplify the voices and organisations already doing the work.To get involved, sign up below or email belonging@cityoflondon.gov.uk with questions.
