Queer America

  • St Mary-le-Bow Cheapside London, England, EC2V 6AU United Kingdom (map)

This year, the Academy of St Mary-le-Bow (the Square Mile’s resident orchestra) celebrates Pride with a programme of works by queer American composers, including Barber’s poignant Adagio for Strings.

On Monday 15th June at 7.30 PM, the Academy of St Mary-le-Bow will perform a stunning programme of works by composers Barber, Menotti and Shaw.

We are thrilled to be joined by soprano Ella Taylor for Barber’s enchanting Knoxville Summer of 1915. Ella has most notably been described by the Guardian as having ‘a voice of tempered steel, wrapped in a warm velvet cloak’. Recent highlights include their Glyndebourne debut and a return to the Dutch National Opera.

This concert is free to attend and no tickets are required, however donations to the orchestra are greatly appreciated and can be made here. Just show up on the night, and make sure you stick around for summer drinks.
