The City of London Corporation, in collaboration with City Black Employee Resource Groups (CBERG), warmly invites you to this year’s Black History Month Gala – an evening reflecting community, creativity, and cultural resonance. This gala will provide an opportunity to honour our communities, celebrating the Black British experience and the contributions of Black professionals across the financial and wider professional services sectors.

This year's theme honours the communities and places that shaped Black music — from fields and churches to house parties, clubs, studios, and streets. At its heart, the event recognises what Black music has done for people and for Britain: not just where genres began, but how this music has carried memory, created bonds, helped people resist and survive, and taught new ways of coming together. In a setting that moves from ceremonial listening in the Livery Hall to immersive sound worlds in the Crypts, the evening recognises Black music not as a backdrop, but as a force that has shaped British identity providing a unique commercial, cultural and community impact. Celebrate with us through live performance, curated listening, food, and conversation — a cultural occasion designed to inspire, connect, and affirm Black excellence.

Any City of London workplace is welcome to nominate representatives to attend. This would ideally include leaders of your Black employee-led network, executive sponsors and those who have worked to advance equality over the past year. CBERG member firms may nominate two representatives. We will send out formal invitations to those nominated, dependent on capacity.
