City Fast a Day Challenge

Let’s host an Iftar event in the Square Mile every working day in March.

Throughout Ramadan, Muslims across the City will be breaking their fast at sunset - a meal known as Iftar. The City Muslim Network and City of London Corporation are partnering with the Ramadan Tent Project to hold an Iftar event at workplaces across the City on each of the twenty working days of March through their initiative ‘Fast A Day’ - and we need your help.

Could your organisation host an Iftar event, with some of the spaces reserved for people from the wider City community? In so doing, we hope to ensure that Ramadan is as accessible as possible, especially for people at smaller workplaces, who may not be holding an event themselves.

How will the Fast A Day event work? The team at Ramadan Tent Project will lead the logistics and delivery of a meal for up to 200 people, and will work with you to curate the programme to meet your needs and goals. RTP will support you to manage the event from conception through to evaluation, and provide programme options including a host, inspirational speaker and/or Imam to deliver a live call to prayer.

Your organisation will be charged a fee by Ramadan Tent Project to cover the meals and for the service provided. All proceeds go to charity and your donation will help support the growth and sustainability of RTP's mission of bringing communities together.

The City of London Corporation will work with you to pick a date and put together a calendar of each Fast A Day event in March, ensuring a different host on each day. They will then publicise these events among the City community and send you the list of signups.

What other support is available? Ramadan Tent Project can provide social media and digital marketing assets to share. They can set up your organisation as an official Fast a Day partner, and support with joint communications and media engagement around the event. They can also deliver an online or in-person a awareness workshop to learn more about Ramadan and its significance.

About the Ramadan Tent Project. Since 2013, Ramadan Tent Project has connected over one million people of all faiths and none through their Ramadan Festival - as well as help people better understand Ramadan and support those fasting. Previous events have included last year’s Open Iftar event in the Great Hall of Guildhall.

About Fast A Day. Fast a Day is an initiative aimed at businesses, offices, and corporates who want to host an Iftar gathering on their premises to raise awareness and understanding around the month of Ramadan. Fast a Day encourages executives, staff, the local community, and the wider business network to join in fasting a day of their choice during Ramadan, allowing them to experience the magic of Open Iftar in an office setting.
